New EV, new question: charging it at home
Plenty of people in B36 are making the switch at the moment, and the charging question always lands in the same place: which unit, how much, and can it be done before the car turns up.

Is a home charge point worth it here?

Take that as a working preference rather than a verdict on the whole market. Plenty of houses are better served by the alternative, and we will say so when yours is one of them.

Two-car households and anyone already signed up to an overnight EV tariff tend to get more out of Ohme, because its scheduling is built around those cheap windows. Whether that saves you money depends on your tariff and mileage.

Can your car use a 7kW charger?
Yes. Castle Bromwich homes are on single-phase supplies like almost every UK house, so a 7kW to 7.4kW charge point is the standard fit, using the Type 2 connector every plug-in car here uses.
The car sets the ceiling, not the charger. Its onboard AC charger has a limit and it will not draw more than that, so paying for a higher-rated unit buys nothing you can use.
Fitting it before delivery day
