Solar PV & Battery Storage: Is Your Business Ready?

08 Jul 2026 6 min read

Commercial solar PV has moved from a nice-to-have to a serious cost-control measure. With energy prices remaining volatile and net-zero targets tightening, businesses across Birmingham and the Midlands are investing in rooftop solar and battery storage to protect margins and reduce carbon.

The starting point is always a site survey. Our team assesses roof orientation, pitch, shading, structural condition and available meter capacity. We also review your half-hourly consumption data to size the system correctly — an oversized array wastes capital, an undersized one leaves savings on the table.

Battery storage is where the economics really change. Storing excess daytime generation for use in the early evening (or during peak-rate periods) can push self-consumption from around 30% to over 70%. For businesses on time-of-use tariffs the payback often lands between 5 and 8 years.

Grid connections matter too. Systems above 3.68 kW per phase require a DNO application, and larger commercial installs may need G99 approval. We handle the full process, from initial design through DNO liaison, installation, commissioning and MCS certification.

If your business is considering solar PV or battery storage, we can provide a no-obligation feasibility report showing projected generation, savings and payback for your specific site.
